Story
Hi there!
In April 2008 at the age of 22 months my beautiful son, Nondas was diagnosed with a rare brain and spinal cancer called Anaplastic Ependymoma.
The position of this tumour disfigured Nondas' brain structure causing him to sustain permanent brain damage to the region. It has affected his motor skills and has left him with nerve damage.
Since the date of diagnosis my poor boy has had multiple recurrences and has undergone numerous ongoing medical procedures and treatments at the RCH.
For more than 6 years Nondas has been battling this horrid disease and in that time he has had his fair share of hospital stays and visits.
I have decided to make a difference by taking part in Run for the Kids and raising money for the Good Friday Appeal. Last year I created a team and named it Viva Nondas in honour of my son. This year will be our second year Viva Nondas has entered this event.
Not only have the RCH treated my son throughout his young life, the hospital has been particularly supportive of the rest of my family and as Nondas' mother, I feel this is my opportunity to show my support in raising funds and awareness for this wonderful hospital. The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal (Good Friday Appeal) brings together people from all parts of the community to raise money for the benefit of The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Funds raised support research, state-of-the-art equipment, education and training, and family centred care programs.
